The "sacred veteran" Sébastien Loeb wins at 47

Nine years after his previous victory in the Principality (in 2013, in a Citroen DS3), the long-time champion from Alsace made his mark on the prize list for the 8th time on Sunday, at the wheel of a hybrid Ford Puma that he quickly got used to. Slowed down by a puncture on the penultimate stage when he was leading the way with a 25 second advantage, Sebastien Ogier (Toyota Yaris) finished second at 10.5 seconds.

Completely crazy until the end! Although it was not covered by the snow, the 2022 Monte Carlo Rally held the fans of mechanical thrills in suspense for four days.
Sébastien or Sébastien? Ogier or Loeb? Toyota or Ford? It was the 17th and final event that sealed the fate of this 90th edition, this Sunday, at the foot of the citadel of Entrevaux.
And the winner is... Sébastien Loeb!

While he was 21''1 behind at the start of the Sunday's money time - a margin that was increased to 24''6 after SS 15 -, the comebacker saw the wheel of fortune turn in his favour once again when the leader was slowed down by a puncture at about two kilometres from the finish of SS 16, on the side of Collongues.
