Cruise ships are making a comeback in Monaco

After two years of pandemic, the Monegasque government is once again authorising these tourist boats to dock in the Port Hercule. But the conditions of reception have changed. We explain.

Her robust silhouette, which appeared in the early hours of 5 April, hardly went unnoticed from the Principality's viewpoints. The 181-metre-long Azamara Pursuit disembarked hundreds of passengers on the Rainier-III quay, at the foot of the Digue.

Then, yesterday, the Viking Sky took her place while the Viking Sea and the Seven Seas Voyager anchored in the harbour of Monaco.
It is more than two years since, for health reasons linked to Covid-19, the Monegasque authorities banned the mooring of cruise ships in Monaco in order to avoid an explosion of contamination on national soil.

The last cruise ship to dock in the port was the 205-metre Amera. That was on 6 January 2020.

This year, in Monaco alone, 137 ships have been scheduled to call.
